Candy purple strat arrived Friday, and is quite impressive:
.
.
.
This geetar is amazingly light (don't know exact weight) compared to the Am Std and Mexi Std parts strats I have laying around.
Neck fit into pocket *real* tight... so tight I can pick it up and hold it by the neck no probs (which also attests to the lightness of the body).
The pickguard color I'm going with is parchment white (as pictured). I ordered parchment white/black/parchment white, white/black/white and pearloid/black/pearloid
pickguards because I wasn't sure which looked best. For some reason, the parchment really blends with the cool purple. Pearloid is shiny, but just too cliche' cuz
everyone uses 'em.
The nut came pre-installed and is Corian. Awesome, super clean job (it's machine-made) from the looks of it, but we'll see how exact it is once I get the geetar together.
I'm glad Warmoth offers this service (especially for a nominal fee), because doing a nut is a right time-consuming PITA if you don't have the fancy equipment (which I don't).
70's headstock all the way... accept no substitutes. LOL
Neck is quarter-sawn maple with vintage-tint gloss and 6130 (Gibson-ish style) frets. 1 5/8" nut width and standard back.
I've yet to determine what color the rest of the plastics will be. I have a bunch laying around - black, white, parchment, vintage.
Alright, now the wait for my Callaham stuff - guitar will be outfitted with only Callaham hardware from head to toe; including H/SRV pickups (Bill had to custom order lefty-stagger
pups from Lindy), wire, pots, vintage tuners... even a nifty aluminim pickguard shield which goes under the pickguard and shields the entire area. Should be here before Turkey Day.
And yes, it's a lefty. No way in heck the big manu's would offer something like this left-handed in this color, and even if they did, it would cost more and would sound like @$$. LOL
