canary top, what back, and finish?

Ok, I totally blame Warmoth for messing up my time schedule.
(not sure the university will see that as a valid reason for poor performance in exams though...)

Anyway, I would like to hear other peoples thoughts on my strat idea.

I've pretty much decided on a canary/ebony neck, but not sure about the body.
I would like to go with alder/swamp ash for the core body, since I want it to sound and resonate like a traditional fender strat.
But since I'm going with Warmoth, I might as well do something extraordinary about it, and make it look great.
I've been thinking about some dark wood for a top lamination. Maybe pau ferro, indian rosewood, or the like. I'm leaning a little towards having it finished with clear gloss.
(/ducking for things thrown at me)
But I'm not entirely sure yet. I'm not too interested in having to finish it myself.
However my biggest problem is the back. I feel that the contrast between the alder/ash core, and the dark laminate would look bad, but I don't think a black gloss would look good either.
I've been thinking a bit about walnut as core wood, but I'm afraid that it would get too heavy, and I don't want to go with a chambered body. Not for my first warmoth anyway :)

Any thoughts/suggestions?

mahogany back, rosewood top clear coated. or alder back in trans brown and rosewood top clear coated. :sign13:

Thanks :)

I've been looking at the indian rosewood tops though, and I'm a little afraid that it would be too dark.
I was wondering how a canary top would look. Maybe with a tobaco burst or the like... any pictures in here of a canary top?
(have searched but couldn't find any).

I think that's tobacco burst, may just be brown burst-over

Nice.. though not exactly what I hoped for.
(oh goodness, I don't know what I want....maybe I'm becoming a woman...  :tard:  )

Actually I found this:

And I really dig the canary on that one. Unfortunately it seems to be an oil-thingie-finish, wich warmoth (to my knowledge) doesn't do.
I'm not really keen on doing the finish myself, because I have bad experience with my finishing skills, and because it seems it needs to be redone every few years.  :sad1:

Hmm... any pictures of a clear gloss laquer finish on canary body anyone?
