Can Warmoth make this finish?

I fond this pic at Talkbass. The guy said the bass is a Fender Custom Shop. I don't know the body wood, although I asked, still no answer. It has to be the most beautiful black stain I ever saw!! It's almost 3 dimensional. Can Warmoth duplicate this?!?

I almost put this in the finish section, but it isn't DIY.

As far as the wood, my money says it's swamp ash.  And it doesn't look like W offers a trans black finish, though it could've been a showcase piece at one time?  They do offer black dye, although they say they'll only dye figured maple.  There's gotta be a way to duplicate it though, there have been a few factory guitars with trans black finishes (Laguna's Ocean basses come to mind).  Maybe our Nitro shooters can tell us how opaque black nitrocellulose lacquer is...

But Holy Crap that's a gorgeous bass; who knew Fender had it in them?  :o

You could get pretty close by using the Woodburst Carbon Black stain/dye, then filling with clear grain filler, a couple of coats of sanding sealer, then nitro gloss top coats.

Warmoth used to offer a trans black but it was a bit too much of a wild card to shoot.

Here are a couple more pics. I'm still waiting for a reply on the body wood. This thing is amazing!  :o I like the grain more than flame or quilt. Something about it.

Yeah it does sort of look like maple.  But that's a pretty strange wood to make a bass out of, isn't it?

I got a reply on the body wood. It's regular ash. They said Denis from the custom shop looked for the perfect pieces.
