I was going to suggest this, but the real McCoy (Fender) beat me to it.  Since you guys already do TV Jones routes on guitars, you should offer the route on P bass bodies too.  That way you'd end up with something like this:

Well, better late than never.

Oh, it would also be cool if you could offer these for sale too, because you'll need them for the build:

They already route for the TV Jones bass pickup, I was told that they are the same dimensions as the guitar pickups.  It is a custom route on the bass though, so you incur the $45 up charge

I know they are capable of it, but I just think it's silly to charge that much for simply hitting a different button on the CNC machine.  I think you should be able to get any route they offer on any model on every model.

A similar question has been raised over "custom" neck contours. It's not like they hand carve them.

It's not about hitting a different button on the mill, it's about having the G-Code at all.  If they haven't written the tool path to route for this pickup, then there isn't anything they can do about it.  They have to get a template out and route it by hand.

I'm guessing the scale length of the total package, indicated by the index points on the bodies, dictate where it will be.  It will as different as putting that existing route in an in between location and why you'd pay extra for a Tele bridge pickup route in the middle or neck position (not that anyone would, just a hypothetical for illustration).  Even though the routes exist, they don't exist on every body they make.

Also, those little custom surcharges are sometimes more to discourage the slowdown of production than to pad pockets, I'd assume.

The upcharge pup routes aren't done by the CNC, therefore increasing labor, time, and cost.
