Adrian Belew's siggy Parker Fly.... MIDI-enabled, Line6 Variax, Sustainiac, "only" $9,599.97. Sure, I want one - "Mustang Sally" would never be the same again. :cool01:
It seemingly negates most worries over "which tonewood is warmer? -punchier? -creamier? -transparent? -detailed? -girthier?" etc.

Alas, for now my neutrons must remain de-snarfitrexed.... :sad1:

Not my bag - everything about that "guitar" offends my conservative (in a musical way) sensibilities... I wouldn't be caught dead with one of those, or if I did, it was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound because I threw away $10Gs.  :dontknow:

I always wondered what a carbon fiber guitar would be like.  Certainly they are starting to be big in a lot of different acoustic stringed musical instruments.

No one here in town carries one mind you - looks like I'll have to travel a bit to try one of those new CA guitars...

I think I lost my sight for a few seconds.....

From this I reckon it's a safe bet to say that Robert Fripp is having an effect on Adrian Belew, back in the 80s he just used strats, now he apparently needs a Parker with a sustainer system and midi, the next step will be loads of custom effects in the thing. ;)

Adrian is awesome and if he needs all that stuff so he can play piano on guitar and all the other amazing stuff he does, then so be it. He raves about Parker guitars and I think they're good, just based on their low end model that I have.

This one was his old main axe for a long time and if you look closely he's got a ton of stuff crammed into that one too:

after I found that video I found this old video - - looks interesting. It's in a number or parts.

I'm watching this now and parts 2 and 3 are really cool

edit - yeah all of these are really cool. I think there are six parts.

Lest you think he's all wank, squeak and tweeze, watch this for bit- can you play in 6/8 and sing in 4/4?

I kinda wish I liked Crimson better, but they just don't resonate with me too much - I know they're genuises and all, they're just not my geniuses... I'm OK with it, and I'm sure they are too. :toothy10: My fave Fripp album is the one he did with Andy Summers, no words on it.

Yeah, he's used midi or at least Roland guitar synths since 1981 and Sustainers/Sustainiacs since umm - mid to late nineties? I'd love to be able to say that has to do with cutting down on feedback inducing volume etc - but the man has something like four (4) 100W amps right behind him on stage...
That cubist guitar is a work of art, if I ever inexplicably should feel the need for a str*t kind of guitar, it will be something like that.

basswood neck? never seen that before :icon_scratch:

basswood with carbon fiber and some kind of resin. makes for a VERY sturdy neck, not headheavy, very resonant. those guitars, especially with the variax in them, sound killer.
