Hi,

I have the following components:

- Warmoth LPS body routed for a TOM/STP bridge (dimensions in image).
- Callaham ABR-1 bridge with Vintage studs and thumbwheels

Where can I buy the bushings/inserts for the TOM/STP bridge rout that would fit the Callaham Vintage studs?

I have searched everywhere but have yet to find any bushings for the vintage ABR-1 bridge.

Please help? Thanks!

Did you check out the conversion studs from Callaham? I don't know their dimensions but I know they offer them. I would at least call them and talk to them. Check out the studs that Browns Guitar Factory has too. Those might work for you. Good luck. :guitarplayer2:

Yes, Callaham makes conversion studs but I need the bushings for the studs to fit into.

My Warmoth body has .44" holes for the bushings. I could dowel the holes and screw
the studs into the dowels but I would prefer to have bushings that would accept the
studs.

I'm curious about this as well as I've considered the Callaham ABR-1 myself for future TOM projects.

Already have the Cal. 6 hole and Am Std 2 hole Kit and the quality is phenomenal.

I have the Callaham ABR-1 bridge on my Firebird and it works great.
If all else fails, ask Callaham to make bushings for you.
I have had them do custom work a couple of times and they are happy to do it.
There is of course an extra charge...
Good luck &  :rock-on:

When I had the Firechicken body made, I had the bridge routing for a different bridge.
I sent the old bridge to Callaham and they made custom studs to fit their ABR-1 bridge.
I have also had them make custom string ferrules.
Bill is a really nice guy and will do most anything you ask; for a fee of course...

Well, I bought the Gotoh Bridge and bushings/inserts from Warmoth and they are huge.
The bushings/inserts fit into my Warmoth LPS body just fine but the studs from Callaham
won't even come close to fitting into the Gotoh bushings/inserts.

Furthermore the studs from Gotoh are way too big to fit into the holes of the Callaham bridge.
Perhaps the Gotoh studs can be trimmed down to fit the Callaham bridge or
I will try giving Callaham a call.

I suppose the holes in the body could be doweled and the Callaham's studs could be pressed into
the wood but I don't know how sturdy that would be.

So as far as I can tell, there is no aftermarket bushings/inserts made to fit the Vintage Callaham studs.

Yet another entry in the long list of reasons to avoid "vintage" parts.

Sometimes the choice to do "vintage" is based purely on tone, not mechanics.

Besides, the TOM bridge (while undoubtedly an ancient design) still works just fine.

I sure as hell wouldn't plunk $$$ down on some new-fangled bridge design if it made
my tone sound like ass.  Imagine if you will, a Leo Quan Badass or worse, a Schaller bridge.

Something else to consider:

What would you rather play through... a '66 Fender Deluxe Reverb, or a POD?

A '69 Marshall Plexi Superlead, or an Axe-FX?

A vintage VOX AC-30, or Guitar Rig 4?

There's a reason why they include those presets (vintage marshall/fender/vox amps) with their... *cough* software: legendary tone.   :icon_jokercolor:

(And they try and try to emulate the real tone machines; iteration after iteration, but never get it right)
