Burnishing Vintage Neck

I read through the 23-page Burnishing thread and may have missed this, but can Vintage necks with the skunk stripe be burnished? I'm pretty sure all the pictures were or Modern construction necks so just confirming. I assume it would be ok, but thought I'd check before I start sanding!

In general terms, it's just a surface prep for wood. Just sanding it very smooth, really. So, neck style doesn't matter. Could be Barbie's dream house, a pool cue stick, or a teacher's paddle.
