Brush on Satin Polyurethane for a Neck???

I'm thinking about shaving down a neck on a guitar.  Has anyone ever just brushed a couple coats of like Minwax Polyurethane Satin?? I'm new to finishing necks. I also have a couple built and plan on spraying them Satin Nitro, but don't know how many coats is normal.  The reason I would brush it on is because this guitar right now is my main guitar and I would want to finish it fast until I get the other ones sprayed if it ever warms up.  Thanks for the help.

I found this on Minwax's website. Thanks much!!!  Says to use about 3 coats.  Does this leave a smooth finish. I'm thinking about doing all 3 necks with this now. I'm spraying some Nitro when it warms up on 2 bodies. I was thinking about the doing the Maple fingerboards with Gloss, and the backs with satin. Would you recommend this over Nitro or what is the big difference?? Thanks. Here is the link to my latest work.
