So I put my gen 4 noiseless pickups in my cheap telecaster build. When the bridge went back on it was misaligned. Turns out if you don't start with the properly drilled screw first it will mount to the wrong spot. (North by a millimeter.)

What's the best way to fill these holes so I can fudge up drilling them a second time? I'm assuming I want to cram dowels in there and that I want to oversize it. Not sure, tho.

Moving a small hole such a small distance is problematic. If the you just dowel the hole and re-drill, the drill will try to follow the path of least resistance, which may pull it out of alignment and make it follow the edge of the dowel. The better solution is to bore a larger hole and use a larger dowel. This would keep the bit used to drill the new screw hole away from the edge of the dowel. Less chance of wandering....

Thanks. That's what I was thinking.

Should it ever warm up above 10 degrees in my garage I'll drill em out.

I need (want) a drill press.

When you get one, put it in the basement.

Place I'm living in now has a two car garage that goes mostly unused except for property maintenance tools and dust storage, so I put one of my little benches out there and put my drill press on it. Problem is, I was used to an integrated garage at the last place surrounded on three sides by heated walls (it was a condo), and this one's free-standing. The difference in temperature is substantial. Plus, if it's raining/snowing, I gotta deal with that getting in/out of the thing.

I'm trying to decide between digging a tunnel or moving the drill press  :laughing7:

Defiantly the tunnel the drill press is probably heavy so a tunnel.  :laughing7:

The Skil drill is too small. You need a 12" swing, minimum. Otherwise, you won't be able to reach many of the places you need to on guitar bodies.

The Wen unit is the right size and ticks all the boxes, so that might be the way to go. You'll notice if you look around that many units look nearly identical - I suspect they're all just being private labeled by the same Chinese manufacturer. Wen generally offers the lowest price.

While you're throwing money at a drill press, you should seriously consider an X/Y crossvise like this one...

They're not terribly expensive, and they have a great deal of utility.
