Brass Block on a Floyd...Opinions?

The thing I've never read about these discussions is the effect of inertia on large blocks.  I mean, more mass would mean it would take more energy to get the block to start vibrating, right? I'm thinking that should affect the attack of the sound?

My point, and with no experimental it is tough to prove, is that if it is harder to get the block moving, the energy stays in the strings.  I am sure that there are components of this that can be broken down in to freq and time domains, and the material's density, elasticity and so on all effect the outcome.  But the more mechanical energy that you keep in the string the "sustain" should also be effected.  Regardless of the other factors involved.
