I love it when patience pays dividends.
The situation in my town as far as music stores goes has been pretty bleak the last couple years. with 2 of the 4 shops closing completely, and one downsizing to a smaller space/staff/inventory. The one remaining shop was bought up by Long & McQuade a few months ago.
Well during the transition I guess they were looking through the back rooms and managed to find this thing collecting dust on a shelf somewhere that hadn't been touched for 10 years.
This pedal has been discontinued for years, I don't even know how long. I wanted one pretty badly for a very long time. Mostly because of Mike Einzigers work with Incubus, I know he has one of these and now that I've got one I can tell he uses it a lot more than I thought before. Its just crazy that it's brand new with the box and manuals, it is MINT.
I know its probably not as exciting as finding an original s/n #001 Tube Screamer BNIB but I think this is ace.
And what's even better (or maybe not, I dunno) I have somehow ended up with it without having to pay for it. A staff member signed it out for me to try for a couple weeks, and during that time the store officially made the switch, AND he quit his job. So they don't have it in the store database, and I can't get ahold of him anywhere. So the guys at the store just told me to keep it.
If you can't see the picture very well, Its a DoD Gonkulator. It's a ring modulator mixed with an overdrive pedal. It's not as cool as I thought it was going to be, but It's still wicked, and now part of my FX chain.
