Bolt on neck - height

Hi guys, its my first time with a guitar that has a bolt on neck so I have a question:

Today I checked to see how my bolt-on neck fits with the body. It fits nicely in the socket but I noticed that there is about 1/4'' of neck wood on the body between the fretboard and the body itself. On my other guitars, the fretboard is flat against the body with no neck wood in between. However, both these guitars have set necks. Is this a bolt-on neck thing or do I need to sand down the back of my neck to make the fretboard flush against the body?

Thanks

Warmoth offers a "720 mod" to fix that situation. What they do is remove .0095" from the guitar's body, but they also add a slight angle. I'm not sure if you can replicate it with the same accuracy unless you've got one heck of a workshop. Regardless of what you do, I wouldn't sand down the neck.

That said, I have a rear-routed Jazzmaster, and the gap doesn't bother me in the slightest.  :dontknow:

BTW, in case it's not obvious the gap is there to allow a pickguard to slide underneath it.  aaaaand if you don't want it, Warmoth can make a body without it.

Oh yea, don't sand the neck!

The guitar is an L5S so I don't think a pickguard would fit under it either way since it's an angled pickguard. Good to know it won't cause problems, I would've liked it better cosmetically without the gap but it doesn't change much.

Nope, but I got back from a party that one of my friends was at (well, about 10 or so friends. Riding a 4-wheeler behind a girl can be awkward, especially when you get airborne and do the dry-humping. I was in the middle, but the girl in the back wanted to get in the middle. She's so small she almost fell off :p So, instead of being in a bumping chick-sandwich, I just got in the back... oh, yeah... back to the first friend...) Her birthday is on Groundhog day :p

So, yeah, nothing useful to contribute.

Well, the girl in the back is lesbian, but seemed a bit more chatty when we were off the four-wheeler. Hmm...

Well, in any case, I'd have to say I agree. Then, I got home and found an email from the closest thing to a girlfriend :p

Max, you should have been riding, thats a better experience. Though I was on 'normal' motorbike and she probably was only holding so tight because I like to ride really, really fast, and I didn't have a spare helmet.  :icon_biggrin:  Fun times...............

I'd estimate that 80% of girls who identify as lesbians at age 15 are still willing to get with a guy.  Don't give up, Max.

Ha, she's 18 or 19. I'm not after her anyways. Unless someone special comes along, I'm probably going to be waiting for a year or something before trying again.

Hmm.  In that case, have her drop me a line.

dbw, I don't know what you've been searching on the internet... but lesbians aren't into guys  :sad1:

The direction of this thread has made me laugh.  I have an awesome lesbian story if anyone's interested that's generally G-rated but completely hilarious and wrong.
