Bodies that work well with the 24 fret extension

Maybe we can start a thread for posterity?  I know that the Soloist works very well with it, and both V models may as well.  Do we know of any others?  I know that "well" is subjective, but I'll leave that up to you to decide how it should be applied.  I'm personally GASing for a Jazzmaster with 24 frets, but intuition is telling me that it's a horrible idea and that those extra frets are going to be useless.

Soloist, V, V2, Reverse Explorer, Reverse Star, Z, Firebird, Musiclander, & 7 String are probably more suited to higher fret access.

Tony Iommi more or less pioneered the 24 fret with the SG.

Wow, they have reverse explorers?  Do you know of any examples?  I'm really curious about that.

Going to add the Iceman to this.  It looks very accommodating, but I'm hoping that someone with an actual Iceman can chime in.

really any body can use the 24 fret extension, it's just some you may have to omit the neck pup... :dontknow:

Well, some are going to have access problems, like the SG or the Telecaster.  I would just like to compile a list of bodies which can utilize the last two frets for more than aesthetics.

Are you aware that Warmoth's 7/8 Warhead necks have 24 frets on a 24 3/4" scale?

Now, they make a 7/8 size Telecaster and Stratocaster body, but here's the kicker: the Warhead neck also fits on a 24" scale body, like the Mustang and Jaguar. It's just the way the scales work out, essentially taking a 24" scale neck and adding a fret higher and a fret lower. I just ordered & am eagerly awaiting a Warhead neck to do just that - make a Jaguar with 24 frets. Seeing as you're hot for a Jazzmaster....

i posted a thoughtful reply at the beginning of this thread.  i guess that wasn't good enough.
i did forget about the 7/8 run, those are good options too.

Yes, I am aware of the 7/8 necks.  There's still something about a Jazzmaster that doesn't quite match up with a Jaguar, and I can't really pinpoint it.  All I really know is that I want a Jazzmaster.  I could compromise if the Jaguar could be routed at the top for strat single coils without the need for a pickguard (I'm not interested in drawing up anything for somebody to do; I simply don't have the experience to come up with a drawing or the know-how to do it myself).

Don't worry, I read it and they were all good options.  All I really wanted to know was which bodies worked well with the extension.  It was more out of curiosity than anything, but it could prove useful to someone who is considering the extension on a body that may not work so well with the extension (strats seem to make the extension difficult to use).

My current project uses a 24 fret neck on a WGD body ..  it's the 2nd one I've done this way ..
