I know we have discussed the picks previously here http://unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=23977.0
but I want to update you all on how they have preformed for me. Here is a picture of the pick that I have use for well over a year side by side with a brand new out of the package pick. You can see that the used pick wore very well considering that I would have the same amount of ware with a Pick Boy pick in the course of one night. Bottom line; the Blue Chip is worth every penny.

Cool, I too have fiddled with different picks, materials and such. Two in particular that are my favorites are a ziricote wood and Titanium...It's awesome when you can find something you like... :icon_thumright:

I also appreciate a premium pick, and have come to the point of using only Gravity Gold Series picks on all my guitars. I have a Blue Chip (an STP60) and it's a darn good pick. But compared to my Gravity picks it sounds kind of dull to me. Maybe it's just a little darker, but that's how I perceive it. The Gravity's just have a livelier sound, while still being very warm toned. And after over a year of using a few of them I can see no wear. None. You would think there would be SOME wear, because - for example - I actually reshaped the points on a couple of the Gold Series picks for an ultra picky friend of mine who wanted the point of his Razer style G.S. pick to be *a little bit* pointier. It wasn't that hard to do this using a couple of emory boards. Like the Blue Chips, the Gold Series material seems to have a natural lubricity that lets the pick glide smoothly off the string - thus (I'm guessing) not getting chewed up like other more brittle materials. Here is what the ones I use look like:

I use this model on three of my electric guitars:

This is what I use on a Tele that is equipped with flatwound strings:

And I use this for my acoustic:

Just another option I think discriminating players ought to know about. At $20 each they're still a bit pricey for a pick, but they are considerably less expensive than Blue Chips.

I normally use the Heavy flavor of this pick:

..but if you want to really get that humbucker twang, go with Billy Gibbons trick and use a quarter, only drawback is that if you use lighter gauge strings you'll break 1st strings more often...

Dava Master Control Nickle Silver picks. www.davapick.com This is a metal tipped, specially designed pick. Worth a try for that metallic sound.

And yet Billy Gibbons uses .007s!

Hehe! Yeah. Spiderwebs, right? And people think you need to load up some 13s, a la SRV, to get a decent tone.

Of course, he has a crew and a dedicated tech to deal with his gear, so if he chews up a set of strings per tune, what's the harm? Probably buys them by the case, if he buys them at all.

My Uncle (B. May) uses a sixpence and pretty light strings as well.  You have to be pretty relaxed to pull that off, but you can get some great tone.

"Buford May" sounds like the name of a sheriff in an old Western movie.  Time to write the screenplay around him...

Add some monsters, spaceships and nekkid wimmin, and I'll watch it.

They already made a movie out of that story ...

That's what I wanted to do, but can't figure out how ...

Tried the Youtube symbol in the wysiwyg editor and pasted the link in between, but I guess that's not the way to do it. Any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers.

From your link, only put the video number between the youtube tags:

So from this:
https://youtu.be/UdmupNxobP0

Delete everything but this:
UdmupNxobP0

And then place it between the tags:

Code:
[youtube]UdmupNxobP0[/youtube]

Resulting in this:

[youtube]UdmupNxobP0[/youtube]
