So my amp came today and it sounds great to my ears although my first amp and electric guitar so not much to compare.

So I have a few questions.
1) It says to turn the power on, wait 30seconds and then turn standby on. Is this to let the tubes warm up??

2) On the back there are 3 spots to plug a external cab into. This is also where my speakers are plugged into. It says dont plug in both at the same time so I understand that but what is confusing is I can plug speakers into the 1 x 8ohm or 2 x 16ohm. What is the difference?? The instructions don't seem clear to me.

Opinions vary. It won't hurt anything to turn them both on at once, but nothing will work right until the thing is warmed up.

There is no way you plug an external amp into those outputs. You'll wreck something. Those are speaker outputs.

Speakers have an impedance rating to them that must be matched to get the proper sound and operation. You need to know what you're plugging in, and choose the appropriate output so the amp is matched to the speaker.

Sorry I meant to say cabinet. I understand match the ohms to the correct jack. The speakers that are in the cab plug in here and it came out of the box plugged into the 1x 8 ohm. The instructions say I can plug into this one or the 2 x 16 ohm but they don't say what change would occur.

The two outputs to the right of the three are likely in parallel and expect to see an 8 ohm load. So, if you have one external 8 ohm cabinet (or the internals), then you could use either one of those jacks. If you have two 16 ohm cabinets, then you would use both, and by virtue of their being in parallel they would present an 8 ohm load and you'd be matched up. The left-most jack is for a 16 ohm cabinet on its own.

That makes sense. So it doesn't matter which of the left two I'm plugged into they will sound the same. I think I got it. Thanks Cagey.

Are you using the middle jack right now for the internal speaker? As fas as I understood it, you have to use the left one saying 1x16 ohm if you are using the internal speaker only. At least I would understand the manual like that.

Hmm, now I am baffled. On the picture in the first post it says internal 16 ohm speaker and the left jack saying 1x16 is checked - I understood it that way. And since he is (at least on the picture) only running the internal speaker it should be the left jack, shouldn't it?

I understand rhat running a second cab leaves the internal speaker in the middle jack.

Did I get it right?

Ya the box threw me of too. But the paragraph before says the one on the left 1 x 16ohm is for a external 16 ohm speaker and the other two are for the internal cabinet or a 1x 8 or 2x 16 ohm external. I thought they could have been a little clearer but it is all working and I like all the sounds I can achieve .

The table is correct. It is referring to the use of an extension cabinet not the internal speakers.

The middle one is the correct one for the internal speakers.

If using extension cabs when the power is off unplug the internal speakers, then referring to the table connect external speakers dependent on the impedance of the external cab or cabs.
