I don't see much group think here. I tend to see lots of lively debate about practically everything.
The fact that many people here like things like raw necks or SS frets more than other places probably has to do with the fact that we're on a Warmoth forum and we've actually tried them and made our own judgments.
I read all kinds of stuff, here and elsewhere, both positive and negative, and went back and forth before ordering SS frets for my first W guitar. After actually playing on them it didn't take long to realize that the people panning them for all sorts of reasons were largely full of crap. That isn't group think - that's real perception based on real experience - not rereading a bunch of clueless "experts" who either don't understand or have never actually used something saying the same things over and over and buying into it.
Same thing with steel reinforced bass necks, Warmoth Pro guitar necks or especially my Teak "isn't a tonewood" bass neck - you read all this negative stuff, then you actually try it for yourself and find that none of it applies.
I also think that group think prevails mainly in arenas where skepticism, the scientific method and technical expertise are unwelcome and unappreciated. And I don't find a critical mass of that here.
