Quick question, while ording some of the Rio Grande pickups in the sale I went ahead and og a black korina top routed strat body I have been looking at to go along with this...

I had the body routed for a recessed floyd and hum/single/hum (just in case I want a Humbucker in bridge or neck) pickups.

My initial thought is to use the Tallboy strat set I ordered, but I really don't remember seeing to many strat with a single coil in the bridge position with a floyd.

Thoughts?

As in will there be a compatability problem? I highly doubt it. I think F**der always put a Hum in the bridge position because they were marketing to the EVH lovers out there with their Floyd-equipped strat.

That is a great looking neck by the way. Did you get a picture of the body before they took it down?

No Pick of body sorry to say.

Yep, I'm not worried about compatability, more a matter of function.  Thinking I will go with single coils and then if I don't like it I'll just add the humbucker.  The body will be routed for it, just need to change pick guard.

Dude - your neck has been bitten by a vampire. Are you sure you want that one? One of my favorite guitar players actually had a TELE bridge pickup w/ a floyd. Err sounds a bit thin for my tastes on the surface, but he made it work ok.

I'm actually finding that I love bridge single distorted - granted it's an EMG-SA, and it's even usable clean - where no passive singles I ever played before did that for me - always too harsh and brittle. But I kinda like the edge/grainy tone through medium gain amps. (10 on an old Carvin X-60. I'd consider it high gain, but it's not terribly so).  I fill it out with the SPC when I want a smoother / fuller tone.

I think Steve Karl has a VS100 + Strat bridge pickup (his are alembic though).  It's not exactly mainstream, but its not unheard of either.
