Hi!

It's been almost two long months waiting for my guitar and yesterday it finally showed up at my doorstep!  :blob7: A black korina VIP with a wenge top, and a wenge warmoth pro neck with an ebony fretboard.

I took some pictures yesterday, looking at them now most are out of focus, crap or blurry are all the above.. But here are some of the ok ones anyway!

HFS and Vintage Bass pickups from PRS and planet waves tuners=) The 5-way rotary pickup selector looks like a tight fit, but I'm hoping I won't have to make extra space down there...

Also, I just finished the first coat of tru-oil! Perhaps I'll take some better ones when I take it out to do the second....;)

Thanks=)

I really love the top, also the combination with black korina turned out way better than I expected! The pictures really didn't do it much justice, it has to be seen... The first one is too bright, and the other ones were too yellow-ish... But yes marko, it was kind of bright, darker around the edges where there are more stripes... But wait till you see it oiled:D
I'm going for the second coat of tru-oil now, let me see if I can't get some better pictures for you!

There we are! They are much to dark, I'll get some new ones on a sunny day once it's done. Still, they do more justice to reality! :headbang1:

Of course I wan't to play this thing tomorrow after the last coat of tru-oil has dried for 5-6 hours... But the guides and such I've read says it should sit still for at least one week... Why is this exactly? Vibrations are bad for the oil? Since the bottle says nothing of the sort I have to wonder...:S

Many oil products out there dry slowly, and they dry from the outside so that while it will be dry to the touch you need the inner layers (even when thin, it does this in lil layers) to cure up and harden as well for the real lasting power to take shape.  It's why paintings can take up to a full year to actually set all the way if done certain ways (mind you they're pretty thick usually!) - one week shouldn't be too bad of a trade off :)

Looks fantastic!!

I have been tru oiling a neck and have been taking my time, sometimes a few days between coats sometimes a week and its looking real nice.
I found it seems to have dried enough when i cant really smell the oil on the neck.

That really is some fantastic grain on that wenge top.  Killer looking build so far!  :hello2:

That looks awesome!

Trust me man, paitience is a must. We all want to play our guitars, but your really hate yourself if you do something wrong by rushing, then you CANT play your super nice guitar.

hehe, looks like I'll have to wait a while then! If I get the finish the way I want to it'll be well worth it though! I gotta go stare at the neck for a few hours now.... :o
