Is there a specific Gretsch Bo Diddly style (or Bo Diddly made one) you're going for, or is this just a shape that's reminiscent of that whole idea?  Either way: great job!

Thanks man, no worries, I would never paint it. It's a copy of "Billy Bo" as dubbed by Billy Gibbons of the guitar that Bo Diddley designed back in '59, and was given to Gibbons by Diddley. I was shooting for the look of the original which is red, hence the purpleheart top, bu I opted not to add the pick guard.

Uhhhhmmmm, I don't think they do exotic wood blanks. I maybe wrong, so you probably would have to call and ask.... :dontknow:

Your options on blanks are ash, alder and mahogany, + routes. That's it.

You might be able to get them to plain down the top after the neck pocket and pu rout is done on a blank and get your own top to go on it.... :dontknow:

no plans yet just idea's that may never happen. the billy bo is coming along nicely. i really like the exotic wood interpretation of an already cool guitar
