Best switch setup to use...

On the Bass VI I'm building, my plan is to go with an H-S-H configuration, and I want to use slide switches to control which pickups are being used, and also to split the humbuckers.  The plan was to use an on-off-on slide switch (the one's Warmoth sells) for the neck and bridge pups, and the on-off slide switch for the mid pup.  Does this sound viable?  I know I'll ultimately find some of the potential combinations NFG, but I'd rather play around with them first.

Another idea I had was to run a 3-way toggle on the upper horn to control neck/both/bridge, and then use 3 on-on slides to control hum/split for the neck/bridge and leave one pole dead on the middle switch so it functions as an on/off for the middle pickup.  This would probably be a lot messier/more complicated, but will probably be the more funtional setup in the long run.

Questions?  Comments?  Enlightening elucidations?  Inane babble?

I think that sound aside that sounds like a really complicated wiring job! If it works either one will probably sound great.  :icon_thumright:

nah it's not complicated at all. but there is something to be said for a big old toggle in a live situation.

The way you described it made it seem a lot more complicated than it probably would be to actually wire.

well the second option he discribes could look slightly messy depending on how you organize it. and ya gotta snake some wires to the toggle. but it's not all that complicated.

While there are several long runs with option 2, the way the body is routed, there's plenty of room to maneuver.
