For my next project I plan to make either a fretless 4, or replace my 5, and either way, I'd like to use a J neck pup and a MM bridge.  I plan to wire it so the MM can be split with a push/pull vol knob, and the J will have it's own vol.  Not sure yet about passive vs. active, but in either case my question is:  Which position (bridge or sweet spot) will give me the closest to the classic J sound when the MM iis split?

That explanation made sense in my head, let me know if I need to clarify (lots of lacquer fumes recently).

I am running same setup with a sweet spot location.  From what I have read it seems to have the most punch.  I will let you know but I am sure others will chime in
