Bass controls, TWO volumes

I am wiring a bass for my son.  It will have 2 pick ups.  He want one volume for each pickup with no tone control.  He want to be able to use the volumes independently, having the ability to have one pick up either off or full on, or any thing in-between without effecting the other. 

Can I simply wire the pick ups independently and run TWO input wires to the jack?

Just follow a jazz bass diagram omitting the tone pot & cap. Pickups need to connect to the wiper (middle lug) on the pots.
