Thanks to all for keeping the DIY spirit. I've been reading the threads but posted little. So, for your enjoyment I'm posting pics of this neck and the barnyard project in full-swing. The frets are 6130, nice and low, nickel. The fretboard is rosewood on wenge. Tone-wise should yield slightly warmer tone and less pop than ebony. Next build, yes there's another, I'll try wenge board over rosewood neck. There's a good post here of ziricote, i'd try it. And kingwood, think it's W's newer wood offering. Back to the build, this neck is going on a walnut body with wenge top. Both successfully penetrated and worked over the last 4 weeks.. with few issues. They (they!) need to make better hand sanding tools for curves, like horns and edges. I'm cleaning/washing the neck tonight with naptha, after much fondling and oogling yesterday, with bare hands. From now smurf-gloves go on and won't touch this neck till it's done. Ws rosewood feels superior on this neck than any other neck I've played. It's firmer, less porous, smoother, and by far, more colorful. Very happy here...
