If there was something in the U.S. I knew of I would post it, but this one is Aussie only unfortunately.

It's Amp School: build a fifteen watt tube amp, under supervision (to avoid any bang, flash, flatline problems). It's in Surry Hills, Sydney. Find yourself a gutted cabinet to mount it, then  :guitarplayer2:

Myself and a couple of mates are gonna have a go shortly.

I have heard of something similar here in the US.  It sounds like great fun.  Good luck with it, and keep us posted about it.

Will do. A friend of mine got his amp repaired by that guy, which is how he heard about. He also heard one of the home-made amps shown on this site and was very impressed (professional muso with very good equipment as it is).

Just for the record, Cletus, Australia did have some great locally built  & good sounding amps in the years that Fender and Marshall amps were hard to come by and ultra expensive due to Trade Tariffs.

WASP, Vadis, Holden, Fi Sonic..... I had a Fi Sonic 30w that was a copy of a Fender Vibroverb (I think) and it had a great sound when cranked! Damn  I was testing it's limits in the 1970s after it had been built in the 60s (no maintenence ), and blew it to kingdom come.
