Applying additional coats of clear nitro

Applying additional coats of clear nitro lacquer to cured coats?
Without getting into a long story as to why, something happened after applying a few coats of nitro to a project that prevented me from getting back to it for about a month. Will it work to lightly sand and continue applying the required coats? Thanks for any help!

There is no reason it would not work. Its just nitro on top of nitro.

Thanks, I was worried about the newer coats not melting into the older ones, and "capturing" scratches between the coats. If that makes sense...
