Dave Gilmour's strat that is;

Other notable instruments in what Christie’s has dubbed “The David Gilmour Guitar Collection” include a white Stratocaster, circa 1954, with the serial number #0001 (played on “Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)”) and a 1958 Gretsch Penguin. Both are expected to go for between $100,000 and $150,000. He’s also auctioning the red 1984 Strat he played during Eighties and Nineties ($15,000 – $25,000), a 1969 Martin D-35 ($10,000 – $20,000) and a 1955 goldtop Les Paul ($30,000 – $50,000). There are also a number of less famous guitars going to auction with estimates for as little as $300.

Yeah, $300.  :icon_thumright:

Yup!  Like the 55 LP gold top that he played on Another Brick in the Wall Pt II.  Auction house estimates $30,000 for that one.  I say add a zero!

Those guitars are selling for way more than what's listed there...

I'd buy that red strat right now for $15k.

Did he use that #0001 strat for the rhythm, or what, because I thought the solo was the gold top?

the article mentions Manny's ... I remember going to Manny's as a teen ager in the late 70's and early 80's.  There were other stores on that street.  Sad to see it go.  I can still remember the smell.  Old building, wood floor, glue, musician sweat but none of the kid grease you find coating the guitars at guitar center.

While interesting, those guitars are out of my price range.

Yes, that was one of the shockers. I think a 0 is missing.  Maybe that’s the opening bid

I have neither the resources nor inclination to bid on such guitars. And I love DG's playing. Even though the black strat is more famously associated with DG - ABITW2's solo is the sound that I most fondly identify with him, and I think I'd rather have that guitar then the strat.

And that's coming from a die hard strat guy who hates LP's.  And yes, a 55 GTLP might be $30k with zero celebrity provenance.

No thanks, old used gear, I will take a shiny new one please.

Probably add some zeros to all of them...

Or maybe even the bid increment.

Anyone else think Dave should just gift the GT LP to Snowy and give the value in charity? Snowy sold his GT LP a few years ago.

He put up a video on his youtube channel:

If I win that black strat I'm putting a longer wang arm on it.

And I'm not that keen on black, I'd strip it back to the original sunburst, and thinking about it, I'd probably upgrade it to a full Floyd Rose trem system.

I'd probably not EMG it, best to keep it vintage.  :icon_thumright:

Actually, if I were to actually win it, at least I'd play it now and then, which is a suspect more than the actual winner will do.

In that video he holds the black strat at a certain angle and it looks like at one point it was routed out below the bridge, then filled back in and painted over later.

I'm sure everything in that auction is going to go way over what I have to spend on guitars, but when I saw him in 2006 he was playing a white/blonde telecaster with a maple fretboard that I'd sure like to have.

It was and a block put in by Charlie Chandler to put it back to a six screw tremolo. Probably the paint has shrunk over time making the block more obvious.

I'd quite like his white Steinberger,

Heck, I can't even afford the bass players haircut.  :tard:

Pretty sure the bass player is Tony Franklin, whose access to high quality rock'n'roll haircuts was probably better than that of us mere mortals in that era.
