Ditto - the designs seem to be marketed to, er, someone other than me  :icon_jokercolor:

But I liked the one I chose - we'll see.

I really think that I like the Escher lizard one. I dunno if I would actually put it on a guitar though.

Interesting timing on this.  I've been tinkering with my MIM Fat Strat.  The poor thing hasn't even had her case opened in a few years.

It's a standard black body and I'm putting new pickups in her anyways.  I'm thinking it might be a good test subject.  :dontknow:

ok!  Here's my guitar skin report.

When we left off, I had decided on a pattern from AXE Wraps (who comes up with these names anyway?).  From the website, you could choose just the body  wrap, or the body wrap plus the pickguard wrap.  I chose the body and pickguard wrap figuring that I'd like the option of covering the pickguard.  They also had me select my guitar from a long list.  I chose an american standard tele, figuring it would be the closest fit to the W body it was going on.

Well, the thing arrived.  Here it is:

Turns out that the body wrap COMES WITH the pickguard wrap - which instantly pissed me off as now I have two pickguard wraps.  I installed it on my Dakota Red W tele (with bender), and here's the results:

I did it over lunch hour, and was in a rush since I had a 1:00 pm meeting - but I got it all done.  It involved removing the strings, neck, pickguard, control plate, sticking the sucker on,  re-installing everthing, then doing a quick cutout for the bender afterwards.  The installation is far from perfect - but it's probably not going to stay on there for long anyway.

From a distance, it looks ok.  Up close, it's obviously a sticker.  Another problem is that apparently the modern tele bridge is in a different spot than an old-style 3 barrel bridge, which left a blank spot just behind the bridge:

So if you're going this way, do a bit more research into what exactly is different between the models they talk about.  Or just get the solid sheet at cut it yourself.

Final verdict is it's kinda cool, and I definitely will gig with it.  But I would not do it again because it looks like a sticker up close and all the other available styles I just don't like.  ok for the $30 (or whatever it was) though.

Thanks for the review.

I didn't end up getting one due to model differences.  I see my hesitance was justified.

On a business trip to Seattle last year, I came back to Prague (I'm English, btw) with a pawn shop Charvel - $100. I had the floyd removed and a 70's Washburn bridge installed... sprayed it Ford Arctic White froma a can, but it was lacking a certain 'something'. I'd been thinking about using 'Fablon' (not sure if it has the same trade name in the US; its basically stick-on plastic with wood / patterned effects used more normally for covering up tables etc - its pretty much permanent). I originally wanted a pink or blue paisley finish, but seeing as that wasn't available I settled on this 'flock' design and set to work. I'm pretty impressed with the results; its a great sounding and playing little guitar anyway - and now everyone asks about it!
