Any recommendations for a reasonably priced Fuzz pedal?

Building your own is pretty easy.  If I can do it, anybody should be able to.

You have Build Your Own Clone, where you can get everything for about $90.  Or if you go through a place like General Guitar Gadgets, Guitar PCB, or Mad Bean Pedals, you can make one for about $50, but you have to source all your parts.

That sounds a nice little project crash. And I guess a hundred bucks Jack?

How about a nice second hand ProCo RAT?

Know anyone who uses one? Just so I can have a listen. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll do a bit of googling.

The Fuzz's BYOC makes are all clones.  The two that come to mind are the Big Muff or the Fuzz Face.  Mad Bean has boards that are clones of several other pedals.  The Fuzz Factory is in there, and so is the Burns Buzzaround.  Lots of fun ones.  There is no safety net with DIY pedals, and you have to get the parts, but you can make period specific boxes.  There is a bit of charm to having one that is just like the original.

These are surprisingly great:

Depends on what you will be playing.  I have a EH Big Muff and a MXR Zakk Wylde.  The MUFF is EXTREME fuzz!  I like to use the MXR to add some additional drive when playing a lead on the hi gain channel of my amp.  It also works well on the clean when using the neck pickup.  Do not let the name fool you...it is NOT a real high gain pedal, to get that sound of Black Label Society, you must use it in conjunction with the gain on your amp.

That brings me to another topic...ever stacked OD/Distortion pedals??

I have an Ibanez Phat Hed bass overdrive/distortion pedal, it works nice. I bet it would make a metal guitar sound pretty nice, adding a lot of bass. They retail for 50.00, used about 20.00.  I switched to a EHX Big Muff, cause I was losing too much bottom end with the other pedal. Craftsmanship is nice on the Big Muff, durable as all get out. Hannaugh just got the guitar version.

That's kinda what I'm thinking actually DM. I want to put a fuzz with what I have already (Digitech Bad Monkey) and let the magic happen :) My wife won't be happy though!

I like the Visual Sound Angry Fuzz pedal.  The octave circuit is pretty cool too.  http://www.visualsound.net/index.php/products/guitar_effects_pedals/v2_angry_fuzz/
As far as chaining OD/Distortion?  Yes!  Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde.  http://www.visualsound.net/index.php/products/guitar_effects_pedals/v2_jekyll_hyde/

Disclaimer:  I used to be a rep for Visual Sound.  They're still my favorite pedals though.

Yeah, I have the have Big Muff Pi with tone wicker as well. I bought it Oz for about $100. Its tone  is very flexible, and the case is rock solid.

I have a Fulltone octafuzz, does regular fuzz and octave up foozz too. I think it was $140 bucks. way cool though

I'm sure I'll get killed for this, but the Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz Pedal is pretty badass for $40.

I've never been a huge fan of pedal distortion. That said, there have been three models that I've never owned, but have been impressed with. Tube Screamer, Rat, and Sans Amp.  Everything else is just wasps in a jelly jar with different filtering options.

I've always liked my Danelectro pedals, even if they did make them with plastic jacks in the 90s.  RIP FabTone.  If I had known how to fix it back then I wouldn't've tossed it.
I should get another off feebay.
