Any jazz/funk/fusion players here?

My style of playing is based in 80s rock/alternative rock, but now with a lot of funk, and some jazzy parts.

Who here plays similar music, and who are your guitar influences in those styles?

I've been a Scofield fan for some time, and have recently discovered some harder-edged fusion guitarists like Carl Filipiak. Lately I've been hooked on Dennis Chambers solo album Outbreak, which has 3 Scofield songs on it, as well as a few other good guitar parts, all based on some solid rhythm sections. As far as bands, I re-discovered Soulive who are a kickass fusion/R&B trio, though I can't remember the guitarist's name. Another one that stands out is Wayne Krantz - I don't know if he has solo material but I saw him with Steely Dan years ago and he was great.

My style is like... Rock mixed with a Frank Zappa touch and some Guthrie Govan/Al Di Meola thrown in. Not that I can play like Al Di or Guthrie, but the influence in my style and note choice is there.

Check out Wayne Krantz's "Two Drink Minimum," a screamin' live album he cut in 1999 or so.  Totally bad@ss.

Also listen to this song "Tease" by Greg Howe, Victor Wooten and Dennis Chambers, especially at the 2:30 mark where Howe does a little jazzy solo first then rips right into the heavy stuff. Awesome.

I'm currently still in love with Mike Stern, Chromazone is fantastic. Big fan of the 80's movement like Lee Ritenour and Larry Carlton. More recently I've been diving into the 20's/30's/40's/50's classics like Django Reinhardt, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker & Thelonious Monk.
