I've heard and seen many of her stuff. She's an absolute monster. It's going to be very fun following her career. She is up there with a handful of guitarist's that make you go; "That's not even humanly possible!". Like in this clip for instance.

I know it's weird for a teenager who listens to metal...but I just don't like shredding.

It's so...boring...and unemotional.

That being said. I liked the one 24" guitar I've played before. Felt pretty easy to play.  :icon_thumright:

I've recently become a convert to 24" scale. Never liked 25.5" anyway, but with many of my 24.75" guitars being too heavy for my broken-down back to cope with now, picking up a 24" seemed the best solution. Now I'm kicking myself I never took them seriously earlier. I've handled them plenty of times as people have brought them to me to be set up or modified or whatever, but I'd never really given them much of a chance. Now I've got a couple, my other guitars aren't getting touched.

I'm thinking a 7/8 Strat body with a 24" neck is going to be my next personal piece. I sincerely doubt I'm ever going to touch 25.5" ever again.

I'm buggered if I can recognise any part of Moonlight Sonata in there. The vaguest of resemblances, at best.



+1 on the "the hell is the point of shredding?" train. It's a moderately impressive display of patience and dedication to repeating finger exercises, but play me something with a melody, please. Give me a beat.
Same reason I don't 'get' jazz. If I can't hum or whistle the tune, don't bother.

Most can't. It is as Ace says - the patience and dedication required to do repetitive finger exercises borders on the psychotic. Most wouldn't call it "practice", but rather an acute case of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

On the other hand, it is an impressive display of human coordination.

In my book there are a couple of different kinds of shredding. There's what MAB and Yngwie do which, while technically mindowing provides little musical content (again, just my opinion here). Then there's what Satch and Paul Gilbert do which showcases a phenomenal talent while still catering to the song and providing melody and imparting a musical voice.

For my part I wasn't drawn in by the Beethoven piece, even she seemed bored. The dude doing Queen was crazy good however.

She probably was bored. For one thing, she plays a lotta stuff like that, and for another she's probably played that particular piece 1.87 bajillion times.
