It's very odd to hear about using S.I. units on the Warmoth site.  What exactly is the need to change it?  I don't agree with measurements being the name for the thing.  The name is really arbitrary as people who assemble guitars must understand what the measurements actually mean anyway.    The best thing to do is just to be consistent so people will more readily understand that 1.625 is smaller than 1.650, vs 1.750 etc.  Warmoth is actually making the issue more complicated by expressing measurements in different ways such as fractions or decimal inch.  Adding S.I units just adds another level of confusion.

I play bass, but I'm thinking of building a guitar to play melodies. I tried playing guitar in the past, but I struggled with the string spacing being so narrow. I see there are nut widths of 1.75 and 1.875. Has anyone ever tried a nut width that wide? I would think it would be easier for my big fingers and hands, but I haven't seen guitars with such a wide nut width.
