Just pulled the trigger on a Warmoth tele body...ash, chambered, 2 lb 15 oz, satin black.....been wanting a satin black, no idea yet what else I'm doing with it  :icon_biggrin:

Guess I'll start thinking about a neck...pickups....and if I want to go black hardware or chrome or weathered nickel look....

Congratulations. That's a good choice. I like the satin black finish W puts on their bodies. There are so many ways to go with it, all of them look good. It'll be fun to follow you with this one.

Holy cow!  On a tele, that sounds like an invitation to neck-dive.

But I'm a bass player, so what do I know.

Ok, good, thanks, something more for me to worry about  :icon_biggrin:
I guess I'll have to get a 1/2 pound Warmoth neck LOL

Neck dive, schmeck drive

Curl a10 lb dumbell once a week for 20 minutes and youll be plenty of fit enough to hold a neck up.

I think my bass weighs more than that.

i wouldn't be surprised if that were a #truefact. But real talk, anybody who can carry an average grocery bag from the car to the kitchen is more than capable of navigating the inconceivable grotesquery that is a featherlite Tele body with a modern neck. don't even fib yourself

Just get a wide strap with a lot of friction.

Wow, that body is light.  Looking forward to your build and congrats!

Honestly, I was seeing a bunch on there between 3 lb and 3 1/2 lb, and figure, how much of a difference can a few ounces make overall? Especially when you see so many folk trying to lose a few ounces in a build to distance themselves from having the proverbial boat anchor on their shoulder.

.....now to order the solid lead bridge, control plate, and PU's.... :icon_biggrin:

Thinking now of just going all black hardware, bridge, control plate, etc. and maybe no pickguard, just a mounting ring for the neck PU. I figure I can always go back later and add a pickguard if I want.

So now, just need to choose PU's and which neck I want.  :icon_biggrin:

In my experience, while not impossible, because of strap hanger locations, etc., it's tough to make Teles (or Strats) neck dive, so I wouldn't worry about it.

But not impossible ... as I mentioned in another thread recently ...

Of course in my case I’ve got a pretty light body and a pretty heavy neck. The body (and neck) is also slightly smaller than a traditional Tele (7/8-body and 24” Mustang neck).
And as been said previously, a wide leather strap with a lot of friction will probably keep a neck heavy guitar in place.

Congrats on starting a new build! Fun to hear that someone else caught the superlight bug too 😄

Satin finish sounds like an interesting choice too. I half contemplated that myself - would love to see your results!

Regarding skipping the pickguard, sounds like a fun choice. While at it, perhaps skip the pickup ring too and go for direct wood mount, maybe?

That neck dive video looks a bit scary. Let's hope that won't become an issue to us light-body builders 😬

Haven't considered direct mounting the neck PU, I'll have to research pics online of examples of this, see how it looks. With the satin black body, and all black hardware, the ring really shouldn't stand out too much. The only non black thing on it will be the roasted maple neck I suppose. If I decide to go with a pick guard down the road, it would cover the holes from the mounting ring, so no biggie there I don't think.
