angled neck pocket depth vs 720 mod

hello everyone. Newbie here looking for tips and helpful info for my next build.
I'm looking to do a new build, a rear routed jazzmaster with bindings. currently, i have a schaller 456 bridge and looking to do a binded tele-heel or gibson conversion neck with binding as well. the problem is the overhang. i cant stand it. with the schaller 456 bridge rout, it comes with an angled neck pocket. does anyone know the depth of the angled neck pocket? i want the neck to be flushed against the body and i know the 720 allows that option but then i would have to shim the neck and it would create the overhang again.

thank you. i watched the video already. my question is to get the neck angled or to get the 720 mod and shim the neck pocket myself. i just wanted to know the depth of an angled neck pocket in comparison to the 720 mod.

An angled neck pocket is 5/8" (0.625") to which an angle is added so it will become slightly deeper towards the headstock. There are two angles offered depending on the type of bridge. A 456 bridge requires the greater angle.

But to look to shim a .720 to create the correct angle for a 456 bridge will result in you being back where you started, unless the bridge is recessed or lowered by an equivalent amount which is not an option for your choice of bridge to the best of my knowledge.

The .720 mod is not recommended for necks with binding.

thank you. i was wondering if there was a difference with the angled neck pocket but it would make sense that only the headstock direction would be affected only. curious because the regal build with a TOM bridge rout has the neck flushed against the body.

I would imagine with the Regal body as it is a specific body that it has been designed to do what it does. With the others there are so many more variables of what people might do in terms of parts etc.
