Analog Delay pedals

I'm wondering what the warmest analog delay out there is. I'm big fan of tape delay & was hoping that there's something out there that is similar, minus the tape. It has to be true bypass as well.

I have a Boss DD pedal & it sounds so cold & brittle.

I think you're right. I just read up on it & saw a few youtube videos & it sounds like the pedal for me.

If you follow all the threads over on the Gear Page all the talk this week is about the reissue of the Way Huge Aqua Puss.

MXR pedals are not true bypass.... Some of your tone will still bleed into the circuit. I know this b/c i modded all my MXR pedals to be true bypass

My wife gave me the MXR Carbon Copy for my birthday a few weeks ago. Although I've only used it twice so far I am very impressed with it. I used to have a Boss DD-3 and can tell already that I'll be much happier with this one.

I just got mine & so far, I like it a lot. The tone is warm & smooth. The DD pedals sound so, well, digital & cold to me now.

I really like the MOD button for a nice subtle chorusing sound.

Maybe on the older pedals, this was definitely true, but MXR says on their website for the Carbon Copy, "True hard wire bypass".

True hard wire bypass

I'm no techy guy or anything, but I remember reading on this and another forum that the hard wire bit makes it not really true bypass at all. It's like a fancy pants way of saying 'Almost true bypass, but not really'
But then again, it's not all that bad to have one or two buffers in your signal chain if you got a few effects goin' on, it is?

Not true. Hard wire bypass is a fancy way of saying that when the circuit is bypassed, the signal goes through a small bit of wire. That is, the signal is shunted to the opposite poles of the switch which are jumpered, usually by a piece of wire .

I like my Electro Harmonix  Memory Toy (It's a smaller version of Memory Man)

I'm looking at the EHX Deluxe Memory Boy. Great price for the features (700ms delay, tap tempo, effects loop, expression pedal).

I have a Carbon Copy and it's really good for a warm echo sound and it even has some modulation to pretty things up a little.

I tried to watch that video about the Fulltone tape echo, but all I could hear was that dudes hair.  :laughing7:

+1

The Memory Boy Deluxe is high on my list. If you end up getting it, I think you should write up a bit of a review on it.

I'm not sure there are many other companies that have an analogue delay with tap tempo.

Yeah I really want analog but it's worthless to me without tap.  :dontknow: With my playing style it's pretty important for the repeats to be in time with the music and I'm not about to start forcing the band to start each song based on my delay.  :laughing11: We'll see if I ever can afford the Deluxe Memory Boy.
