Carr amps are fantastic.  A friend has a Slant 6V and it is one amazing sounding amp.  I have started talking to a guy who was a designer there for ten years (he comes in to my work all the time, and one day saw me wearing my Warmoth T shirt, and we started talking).  I'm trying to save my pennies right now to have him help me with my Bassman refurb.

Max, NC is the mecca for boutique amp makers.  There is Carr, Germino, Headstrong, Swart and some others I don't remember at this time.  I actually live just a couple miles from Greg Germino.  He makes AWESOME Marshall clones if you've got the coin to buck up for one.
