Jason I'm glad you like it.

I’m building a couple of guitars for an exceptional local player who works closely with Two-Rock amps.  He happened to have his seven-year-old son with him when he came over to check out some necks I had received from Warmoth for him.  His son saw your guitar and went nuts!  Since he has stared playing guitar recently his dad told him that if became accomplished enough for a big guitar they would have me build one just like it for him. About a week later they came back to pick up a body that was ready for dad and the kid made a bee-line right for your guitar and stood over it drooling.  Are you supposed to get GAS at seven?  His dad said it was all he has been talking about since he saw the "Green Sunburst"

Who knows maybe you have inspired a future prodigy.  :icon_thumright:

Why don't we put up a collection, get some leftover parts, and build the kid a small scale one? If the kid has GAS at 7, he's a long ways away from being able to do anything about it. You could just burst the front and I'm sure we can gather enough stuff none of us want just from what's sitting in boxes in our garages.

Although you are trying to be a bit frugal, I would spring for the Bakelite pickup covers and knobs from Retrospec.  They are 40 bucks for the covers, and fourty for the knobs, but they add a different level of charm.  Not reliced, but vintagy.  I put the pickup covers on after the fact on my strat, and I am still happy with the look they add.  Sure it is just a detail, but a pretty cool one in my opinion.

$80 for pickup covers and knobs?

I definitely understand the charm for some but it's definitely not me. I mean even the original strat knobs and pickup covers were just cheap parts some factory worker grabbed out of a bin. They cost next to nothing new now, and then there's guys like this:

WTF.....$5800.....pfffffffhhhh

It's Bakelite, really one of the first plastics produced.  Not the easiest to get, and it is what was used on the original Strats.  Neat stuff.  I guess not for some.

Don't get me wrong, they have charm, but I'd rather save the $70 and go out for a steak. And chances are I'll wind up going with a set of Fender N3s on this at this point.
