I saw Alice in chains last night in Philly...show was awesome.  2ND ROW!  The band sounds awesome and is really interactive withthe crowd!

Jerry and his usual G&L rampages but also used 2 different Les Pauls (black and white) and even played a Telecaster during Your Decision.

William the singer played all Les Paul vintage models...all were awesome.

I was mostly impressed in the bass guitar selections...a lot of Warwick and some other brands I did not get t he brand.  The most impressive was this semi-hollow body Warwick.

It there are any alice fans here, I highly recommend seeing them live.

Sorry for the crappy photos from my phone...

DBU....you would appreciate...Jerry blew one of those amazing Bogners during the show....you could hear it going then NOTHING!!!  Thank god for backups.

Bet his sound was awesome before, during and after. LOL
If I remember correctly he's running Uberschalls and Fish pre-amps with either VHT or Mesa power amps side by side.  :headbang1:

Agreed, Jerry is from Dallas.... :headbang1:

Maybe he just lived in Dallas for a while then, I remember an interview of him saying he worked at a now defunct guitar store in Dallas.... :dontknow:

thanks where he got his first G&L

I miss Layne.  Does the new chap try and sound like him or does he do his own thing;  hopefully the latter.  Those are funny shaped shoes to fill.  Glad you enjoyed :headbang:

My understanding is he's a dead ringer for him vocally.  That said, I keep getting told that people vastly underestimate how much singing Cantrell does with AIC.

he does sound like layne...and Cantrell sings about 75% of the time too.  On some of the new stuff, william does have his own sound.

I would say it is about as good as it can get for striking a balance of old and new.

I absolutely love AIC! I also recommend to see them... I saw them a couple of years ago (just getting back together) opening for Velvet Revolver at the Mobile Bayfest. It was outstanding! Jerry is and will always be one of my favorite guitarists...

I'll second the BEST band from Seattle as well (well, other than Queensryche and while they are not from Seattle, but Bellevue, still the NW)... AIC and Soundgarden were the only 'grunge' bands I've ever liked (Mother Love Bone as well, but we all know they didn't last long - RIP Andrew Wood).

When I was going to school at the Art Institute in the late 80's, Jerry, Layne, Stone Gossard, and Chris Cornell came and hung out quite often - was real cool... Back in the day of "have you ever heard of a band called Soundgarden?"...  Wow, a lot of years have passed...  Feelin' old now...

I have to +1 the <3 for Mother Love Bone and to feeling old.

The semi acoustic bass is a Warwick Star Bass II. Two versions, maple body and bubinga body with wenge neck.

Glad to read that you enjoyed the show!
