alright, so i played a gig last night and snapped my high e string at the bridge in the last chord of the last song. went to change strings today, loosed all of them at the tuner end before undoing the auto-trim locking thingies. all of them moved fine except for the high e, which was a little tough. i think i pushed it a little hard, because the round peice that you grip actually unthreaded from the shaft, so the broken string is completely looked in position!!!! anybody have this problem??????? arrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhh im recording all next week and dnt have another good guitar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It unfortunately sounds like it was over-torqued.  I was able to loosen one up once with a toothpick but you may need a replacement.

how did u use a toothpick?!? that eludes me somehow  :icon_scratch:

but please, any help is good help, so thankyou!! how did you do it?

You can see the shaft of the locking mechanism inside the string post. Turn the wheels on your other ones that are still loose, you'll see it move and see a domed top to it.  I got a toothpick in the string hole and on top of the dome and was able to wiggle it loose.

hahahaha, thats what she said. hahahahaha

sorry dude couldnt help myself, ill give it a bash and see what happens. thanks a million for the help bud

Find a nut that has the same thread pattern, put it on most of the way.  Put the knurled piece back on until almost snug.  Loosen the nut back into the knurled piece and tighten it against the knurled piece with a small wrench, not to tight.  Then loosen the whole thing and disassemble.  If I understand the problem correctly that should work if you can get the pieces.
