hello i just ordered my first warmoth and im wondering what options i have when wiring a p-90 in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge.  i know this isnt anything remarkable or  out of the ordinary.  im just abit nervous about screwing something up- take it easy

There are almost limitless options when phase reversal is considered, pan knobs, whether or not the P-90 has a coil tap, whether or not the hum is 2 conductor or 4, etc., etc.

IMO, with that pickup combination, an SG or LP control layout of a threeway toggle and volume and tone for each pickup can't be beat.

im diffently going with the lp sg wiring with the 3way toggle and im using two concentric pots for the volume and tone, i dont believe the p-90 has a coil tap as for the humbucker it is a four conductor cable.  i dont have any plans for a pan knob but with phase im a bit nervous are there any do's and donts were this is concerned thanks for replying

Nothing to get nervous about, if you don't like the way you wire it up initially you can always change it later. Phase reversal is not for everyone, it gives you a thin, nasally tone that is good for some effects, rhythym sometimes, and some funky stuff. Like a more extreme version of the in-between spots on a strat.
One tip - if you decide to go with a coil tap on the bridge, try and get it so the 'on' coil is reverse wound / reverse polarity from the P90, then it will be hum cancelling when both are on.
Another - practice your soldering on something else first if you've not done it before. the plastic components inside of the pots and switches can melt, so you want to get 'in and out' quickly with the soldering iron and not heat those parts up any mor than you can help it. There are some pictures of very good solder jobs on this board in various places, check them out for hints.
Another - if you want a little bit brighter sound than you're getting, switch the pots to 1 meg from the usual 500k. It makes a subtle difference that can add just a hair more top end to the sound if that's what you find yourself lacking.

awesome thanks alot tfarny much appreciated i think ill try that coil tap you mentioned you think that post "guitar wiring links" posted by superbeast has a schmatic for this?

I wasn't suggesting phase reversal, but the initial post was kind of vague about options.  There's a bunch of options with just two pickups.  But IMO, the humbucker wired as a just a plain-vanilla hum on a 3 way toggle with the P-90, that's just about perfect.

Welcome to the forum.  Here's a useful resource link for wiring configurations - http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/wiringresources/

Good luck with your build  :glasses9:

yeah i should of but more info in my first post i know you werent suggesting phase reversal sorry if i came across as i dick didnt mean to. thanks for helping me out i dont feel so nervous about this anymore

No need to be nervous.  Guitar wiring is one of the few things that you can mess up and nothing is ruined.  If it's done wrong, it just doesn't work is all.  The only thing that's ever damaged is switches or finishes from hot soldering irons.
