Abominable Iceman 2.0

I have a mahogany baritone conversion Iceman that I made back in 2009.  I rarely played it because it would never stay in tune (although I figured that part out).  Anyway, I think it will get more play if I put a standard neck on it.

If anyone saw my "Irons in the Fire" thread (http://unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=25071.0), I had picked up a birdseye maple neck to put on the Iceman.  I also got a swamp ash WGD body to replace the black korina body of my current WGD, as the thing weighed a ton.  What ended up happening is that the birdseye maple neck was a perfect match to the swamp ash WGD body.  This was never intended, but those two are definitely going together.

I was going to use a Strat neck I have (canary, with macassar ebony fingerboard; Wizard profile), cut the Strat headstock into an Ibanez shape, and use it on the Iceman.  But there was a problem.

I had this awesome neck plate DangerousR6 made for the Iceman when it was a baritone.  It was the "Abominable Iceman."  :headbang1:  That name was very fitting for a baritone.  But the name doesn't really work with the standard canary neck.  For that matter, it doesn't really work with birdseye maple, either (sorry, Doug...I hope you don't hate me.     ).

But what does seem to work is the neck I took off of the black korina WGD.  It is wenge with a macassar ebony fretboard.  The grain markings in the fretboard almost look like blood drops and streaks.  Then there's the whole 12th fret skull and crossbones thing.

Abominable, indeed.  :laughing7:

On a different note, the neck has a Floyd Rose nut shelf.  Allparts used to sell Ebanol nuts to convert these to a standard nut.  They seem to be discontinued.  Does anyone else know where to find the Ebanol nuts?  Google was no help.

Here's one

It's for a 1 5/8"

Thanks, John.  I guess they at least got the 1-5/8" ones back in stock.  The one I have is 1-11/16"  That is what most of my necks are.  If I can find someone selling those, I might grab a few just to have on hand in case they go away, again.

I thought you might have 1 11/16", Google showed an entry also for Allparts UK, but when I clicked on the link the page was gone.

If I stumble across any I will let you know.

Thank you.

I should be clear.  I had one 1-11/16" ebanol nut in my possession.  It was on the baritone neck, and is now on this wenge skull/x-bones neck.

The guitar looks great. One thing I would recommend is another truss rod cover. I have a neck with the Warmoth headstock and I feel the cover they provide does not match with that shape. I ordered Doug a cover with an Ibanez type shape and he did a great job, as always...:icon_thumright:

Thanks, Kostas, both for the complement and for the great idea.  I agree, I have never been impressed with that particular truss rod cover.  I'll have to chat with Doug and see what he can come up with.

That is really nice Doc. Looking forward to hearing this one on a vid soon.

Thank you, Mike.  I'm hoping to finish it up this coming weekend.  And maybe finished up at least another of the ones I have waiting to be assembled.
