Its Mother's day and so this weekend I am heading in the opposite direction otherwise I may have taken a trip to London.

The Black Strat went for $3.9m and the Martin acoustic that was recorded for Wish You Were Here sold for $1.09m.

The Black Strat had been heavily modded over the years (at one stage was routed out for a Kahler trem unit) then eventually returned to a more modest configuration...heavily specialised for Mr. Gilmour. I doubt many others would feel comfortable playing it.

That Martin acoustic has THE tone, but it was a workhorse too.....

Both are probably now headed for a life in a museum somewhere...

Probably as the auction fees are usually a percentage of what is raised in addition to any other costs.

At this rate, DG will be able to afford to buy a couple of bursts off Joe Bonamassa.

I do with they would do a museum tour of them before auctioning, ie, bring that to the Experience Music Project Museum in Seattle since it is such a huge part of music history.

I remember seeing Hendrix & Nirvana's memorabilia and it was really special.
