I built a Tele from blanks.
Sapele Body, Indian Rosewood neck with Katalox fretboard,
String-through, Humbucker in the neck, single in the bridge.
Final Weight... 9.4lbs or 4.27kg
Great sound, clear tone but a smidgen on the heavy side.

Snarky Comments Welcomed...

Boy.

You're gonna carry that weight.

Carry that weight a long time.

The weight is the weight ... what can you do except after you pull into Nazareth, but ask Fanny to take the load off.

How much weight you're willing to bear for an evening of playing is personal ... to me, I'm all about bearing less than 9 Lbs.  The average american baby is 7.5 Lbs, plus or minus a 1 Lb, so that's what I look for when it comes to electrics.

Beautiful!
Can’t wait for my 1 piece indian rosewood neck and my Swamp ash teledeluxe body!

Nice looking but heavy.  Heavier than either of my LPs, heavier than my 5 string bass.
Try it out and see how it works.  I have a bad back (multiple disc issues that have been addressed by surgery), so not sure.
If it seems too heavy, I’d take the router beast to the back of it  and relieve some of it.

Are you suggesting the weight qualifies as a Tele-Tubby?  :icon_scratch:

No, I am not suggesting anything.

I said don't fret (worry) about it. It is the weight it is, either it works for you or it doesn't.

If it works then nothing to do. If you want to lighten it take a router sled, slim the body down, chamber it and then put on a laminate top for example.

Nice job! Under 10lbs is good with me.

Is that a parallel axis tele pickup? How does that sound?
