720 Mod with wood-mount humbucker and Gotoh 510fx-6?

Hey guys,

I want to order a Strat body with a 720 mod and with wood mounted humbuckers and a Gotoh 510fx-6 fixed bridge. I emailed Warmoth and they said the bridge won’t be a problem with the 720 mod but the wood mounted humbuckers will as they won’t go low enough Looking for a second opinion! Thank you

What Warmoth have said is good guidance.

If this is something you want to do then perhaps if you have a router or know someone who has, they could lower the routs for the humbuckers by .095" so that they have been lowered by the same amount as the pocket has.

Warranty caveat emptor and all that jazz.

I don’t know honestly, but they said the Gotoh will work with the 720 mod, so I’m more worried about the wood mounted humbucker

This thread caught my attention because my koa-topped Soloist project has the .720 mod, Fender American Standard hardtail bridge, and wood-mount pickup routes. So I'm now wondering if it's gonna be a problem. It's hard to imagine since we're talking about a miniscule difference, but won't know for certain until it's all assembled.

My Albert Lee build has the 720 mod with wood-mounted humbuckers and I didn't run into any issues. It has a Hipshot trem.

Not sure why the wood mount pickups would be a problem tbh. I mean if you have long legged humbuckers it would be a problem, I don't think that would work with or without the 720 mod

I did one guitar with the specs you've mentioned, 720 mod with wood mounted Humbuckers and the 510fx bridge but changed the body later on quickly to another one because I was missing the tremolo and didn't like the color as much. So I just have one picture of that built and all I can tell you is that it has worked for me.
