720 Mod + Hardtail ??

Hey guys!

Sorry for this another 720 thread, I was seeking for an answer through the whole internet but I found none which would make me feel confident. I just want to avoid making a decision and wait 18 weeks only to find out it wasn't a good idea.

Is the 720 Mod compatible with a fixed bridge or should it be avoided? I tried to figure it out myself but I just can't. I understand it makes sense on recessed bridge types. I wanted to go with either American Standard Fixed or Hipshot Fixed on a rear routed Body and slap a genuine Fender Replacement Neck on it.

I have a guitar with the 720 mod and a Hipshot hardtail the (.125 height one) and it works great

I have it on a Soloist with the Fender American standard hardtail bridge.

Do you have woodmounted humbucker?

The 720 mod will never be a true death sentence for a build - you can always shim some angle in if your saddles are slammed to the bottom. The only thing it is truly incompatible with is pickguards that go under the fretboard extension.

Not on that build with the Hipshot flatmount, but I do have a different one with the Hipshot "contour" trem with 720 mod and wood mounted buckers and I didn't run into any issues

I wanted to ask if a shorter length neck screw would be needed if you have the 720 mod?
I apologize if this has been asked a lot but I want to ensure the 4 neck screws don’t poke out the fretboard.

If it also has a contoured heel you will need shorter screws. If it is a normal heel the usual screws should be OK, though I would always check the depth of the holes prior to committing.
