720 mod, 24 frets, and pickup rings?

On a guitar with the 720 mod and a neck with the 24 fret extension, how much room does that leave between the end of the fretboard and the neck pickup? Is it safer to just plan for a direct mount pickup, or is there room for a typical pickup ring?

If you're getting the 24 fret extension you'll need to get the 24 fret neck pickup reposition on the body, but assuming that you do that there should be no trouble with using pickup rings. (y)

The 720 mod increases the depth of the neck; you'll probably need to use "short" pickup rings or thin metal ones as opposed to tall Les Paul style ones

The edge of the 24 fret extension will butt right up against the pickup ring. I learned this the hard way as I didn't check and I screwed down the neck and the very last millimenter of the fretboard hit the top of the ring and caused the fretboard to turn into a ski jump. So I had to unscrew the pickup ring and then remount the neck. With the 720 mod and 24 fret extension there is no room for error. Now it fits pefectrly flush against the top of the body.
