72 stratocaster body

I have a 72 stratocaster reissue body (three hole neck mount) that needs a neck. I am wondering if the lower hole needs an insert or if the larger single screw is threads directly into the wood of the neck?

You question is a bit puzzling; three hole neck mount Strats came stock with a different shaped neck plate; like the repro one at the eBay link below:
