Hi, i'm building my first warmoth bass.

I was looking to build a 5 string explorer-shaped bass.
But in the body builder there is no such options.

I know it sound like a stupid question so far, but i've seen this bass in the gallery:
http://www.warmoth.com/Gallery/GalleryEntry.aspx?id=729

So i don't know what to do, i have to order a blank bass body and shape it by myself or it is possibile to order a 5 string explorer shaped body?

Thanks.

They might possibly do the routing for the 5 string neck pocket and pickups
and bridge on the four string body for a surcharge if you call and ask or email them about it.
but they might not if it means alot of cnc adjusting or anything, dont know.
Unfortunately that bass the owner didnt give a description of whether it was a custom body or if they used to do a 5 string explorer body.

Just curious as a side note, have you played any explorer basses before?

Ok thank you 'ive send an email to warmoth sale with the question.

P.S Yes i have an Epiphone Explorer bass that is my main bass right now

I just need a 5 string and i don't want to leave the explorer shape...

Beside that i had the opportunity to try one of this basses in a store that was selling it used (it was a PJ precision shaped bass all made by warmoth.)
and really liked it

They could probably do that simple enough.  The Explorer bass headstock for 5 string, even 4 string, may leave you S.O.L. though.  It's been an observation of mine for a while that Warmoth makes an Explorer bass, but no Explorer bass headstock.  They also offer a V bass headstock and no V bass.

Kinda an oxymoron... :icon_biggrin:

It definitely can be done. There's at least one more out there. There's a user on Talkbass.com who's made one that's really nice looking.

He used the Warmoth headstock, which may be a dealbreaker for you if you're a purist.
