40th Anniversary Special Dye Finishes

Funny enough Nebula Burt is one of the color schemes I was considering doing on the soloist body I got, although in a dragon's breath pattern instead of glow given the top's figuring.

That's called Indian Ocean Sunset in PRS' terminology, I saw one body in this finish while visiting the factory last summer and pictures/videos don't do it justice:

These things are eye-popping in person. My personal favorite is Pele Fade.

Is the Northern lights body on the banner representative of how it looks on other bodies you finished too ?

The body you show is very close match to this:

though when I think of northern lights I think more of the purple/pink interlaced with teal/cyan like:

the secret (somewhat) recipe of NL used by PRS produces highly variable results given its complexity ( multi-layer+sandback) though, it can be too purple or too blue:

Do any of the bBut usually when I think of NL I think a lot more about something like this:

Yes. There are four Northern Lights bodies in total, and they all look very similar to the photos I posted.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw that vip shape, then realized it was a prs. Phew almost had to by a body. :turtle:

Rather have more sparkle options....  :)
I'd like a bound sparkle top, and a clear back, on mahogany. Just saying.....

Agreed! I love solid finishes with natural wood backs. I haven't asked Warmoth if they'd do it, but I wouldn't think they'd turn it down

Pshh. Easy. It's a phone call away.

Great.. one more thing. If I were to get tempted and be able to get one of those nebula burst bodies, would it be possible to have a neck built with peghead veneer dyed/burst the same way (I understand the match won't be as good as if done at the same time, but it should be close enough for this particular color scheme) ?

We could absolutely do a headstock veneer and some kind of complimentary dye. However, translating the Nebula Burst look exactly could be tricky...not as much room on a headstock to blend all those colors. You obviously already know it won't be a perfect match. It's really the smaller size that makes it a challenge.

You have your own vision, of course, but my recommendation would be to dye the headstock a single color that is close to the dark color at the edges of the Nebula Burst. To me that makes it much more visually complimentary than having a separate smaller burst on the headstock competing for attention. To me that destroys the continuity of the color scheme across the guitar as a whole. But that's just me.

With bursts I like whatever color is on the back of the body (or black) to show up on the headstock.  Speaking of bursts, I'm getting that needy feeling for a pele fade vip, I'm pretty sure I don't have the money, but I still have the feeling.  Damn ... mental dissonance.  Female fire goddess, goddess of the volcano, goddess of violence and the hula.  Wow. Another great name with a lot of mana.

How many models will be available? Will they all be in the Showcase? Any chance an early purchase window can be opened for forum members and past customers? I'll stay up until 12:01 if I have to as I definitely want the first (and second) pick of the litter, but early access would be very appreciated.

Good point... I'm trying to visualize a burst/glow on any headstock shape and I it could indeed look weird, even on the more symmetrical 3+3 headstocks shapes.

What you suggest, or even a simpler fade would indeed look better:

It's not that small for blending compared to a TRC :-P (no, that one wasn't fun to do).

The limited run is all S, T, and one or two Soloist bodies. They will all be in the showcase.

If you aren't able to get what you want, or you want the finish on a different model, call in and we will do it for you. The advantage of the limited showcase run is that you get to see how it turns out before buying, and dyes always do vary some due to the way different pieces of wood pick up the dye.

Sorry, I can't offer anyone early access to the sale. But how about this as a perc for forum members: tell me which body style and finish you are interested in, and I'll post pics so you can evaluate your choices early, and know exactly which one you want to go after when 9:00 strikes.

I'll do this within reason, and up until end of day today. Once I leave for the weekend I won't be able to do it any more. I'll be too busy building my toilet paper fortress.

That's really awesome. Thanks, Aaron.

I'm primarily interested in S and T body styles....oh and Soloist too ;).

Seriously, I'm interested in hardtail bodies in Maui Surf and Nebula Burst. Any pics would be appreciated.

Here are your choices for those criteria. Please don't share these on social media...which will only increase the competition for them.
