Hi all  :icon_biggrin:  me again ...

This is my #4 build this year, that just flew in today. I know some here are very eager  :toothy10:  to see this one.
Waiting on the Neck thou. Which is Mahogany with ? fretboard, going for the Gibson vibe.

Spec's as you see it …. Mahogany (solid body) with Cocobolo Top, with Black Pin Striping, finished in Clear Gloss,
Contoured Heel, Angled pocket. Chrome Tone Pro Tune-O-Matic TOM & Tail.
Looks Effing great  :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

The rest is pretty straight forward by looking at it.

To whoever it was here somewhere, that hinted / suggested to use the new Seymour Duncan Zephyr Pickups on this.
No worries at all, I'll use them …. But …
If you would kindly like to pay for them for me, that would be really nice of you.  :laughing3: :laughing7: :laughing11:
Holly crap they do cost something else don't they.

Don't think it will fit a GK-3 installed in side of it .... Oh well.

Now the Big Question here is ….. Use a pickguard  ?  Or Not  ?

I think I know what most will say to that one …..  just testing the waters … don't shoot me !!
Think it would look rarer (as to speak) without one, as most Emubirds  (I mean FireBirds) use a pickguard.
Not to say that it's not rare looking already… well I think it is.

I want to finish #3 Strat 'The Spider' 1st thou ….  gee whiz,  :icon_scratch:  otherwise i'll be all out of order.
So don't go rushing me now ….

Just thought I'd show some teaser pic's of #4 'The EmuBird' making it's landing safely downunder……

Sorry about reflection on some pic's, it's that bloody glossy it shows up the reflections very easily.
I'm not complaining at all, it looks just absolutely superb from where i'm looking at it.  :icon_thumright:
Not a mark on it ... only reflections.

Shall open a thread in 'A Work In Progress' when I get going on this one & when the Neck comes in.

Also need to know before I get going, which hard case will fit this thing, I like to have one ready on hand when done.
Suppose this SKB one will do the trick ….  http://www.skbcases.com/music/products/proddetail.php?id=459&c=82&o=&s=75
Any others you know of ?

Thank you again Warmoth … excelled again  :icon_thumright:  as per usual ….

So what do you think of it ?

Enjoy the Dribbling & Drooling    :icon_biggrin: …… I sure am

When I'm invited to play for the Queen, I always use my Zephyrs.... and charge HER for them. Jeez! Whatever happened to "Classic"... oh yeah:
uniquely fast transients, wider but smooth frequency response, deeply rich harmonics, and unprecedented midrange tone density, with audible gains in string detail, articulation and overall definition. Slighter touch produces expressive sound, yet peak dynamics are more explosive, making your guitar feel more energetic and alive.

And I'm sure they're printing up the results of the blindfold tests that PROVE all that, real soon now.... :laughing11:

Wow. That's too pretty to cover up with a guard!

As to the Zephyrs: Well if you just want to imagine you're hearing stuff, I'd say you can buy an awful lot of tequila for those prices.

I like the pickguard. It adds a bit of contrast and without it nothing is left to be desired. And it makes everything look a bit more balanced.

Wow, that looks amazing!

I normally do the like pickguard for contrast, but please, just don't. Although really, it will look go with it as well. But I am a wood bum, just like pretty much the rest of this board :laughing7:

No pickguard!!! If you need to use one, use a white one!

And I hope you don't install a GK-3 on it... would be awfull!

I can't imagine a pickguard on there that would look good. Maybe a clear one, if you're concerned about the finish and really do want to guard against the pick. I suppose it depends on how violent/careless you are about your picking.

That's EXACTLY how - wait...

I can't imagine a pickguard on there that would look better than the bare wood on this particular guitar.

That's EXACTLY how I feel.  :icon_tongue:

Congratulations on your new bird!  :icon_thumright:

That body looks awesome and I'd suggest you leave the pickguard off. :icon_thumright:

On a  genuine Gibson Firebird, the pickguard fits flush up against the raised middle section of the body and looks nifty. They use that guard because there's a rout underneath that goes all the way from the toggle switch into the control cavity, so they need something long,

I think in some Limited Editions & the like, when good flamed or figured wood is used, Gibson will do what you have done & rear rout it, and dispense with the pickguard.

Ha ha! It was I who suggested the Zephyr. You know "Wind" to get that bird off the ground lol
:laughing7:
No. I will not pay for them for you!
It's your guitar now, do what you want!  :icon_thumright:
If it were mine, I'd ditch the pickguard, and instead cut some "f" holes in it!

Lol (kidding!)  :laughing7:  :laughing11:  :laughing3: :laughing7:
Let's see those pics baby! (The Spider too!)

Hi all   :icon_biggrin:  Wow .. thanks so very much for your input.  :icon_thumright:

Not real happy with the 'V' But sounds great. This was going to be #1

#3 'The Spider' is here  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=16707.0
In process.....

#4 is this one 'The EmuBird'

OK there will be NO GK-3 installed … Not enough room anyway !!
I thought about 90% would say NO PICKGUARD …. I do tend to agree on that.  :icon_thumright:

Only got the Black / Red / Black pickguard, as I thought it would go with the Ebony Head Stock.
(pic's of the Neck below) before it's finished.

My wiring choices on this is …
JP wiring  http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=jp_style
Triple shots  http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=2ts_2v_2t_phsp
(Large Diagram, Don't know why....

I think the Triple shots give more choices.
Suppose the Black Mounting Rings (TShot's) would match in OK. Pity can't get in Chrome.

Neck Spec's …..
Warmoth Pro Angle FireBird, Mahogany with Ebony Fretboard, Mother of Pearl Dot inlays,
Graph Tech Black Nut, Nut Width 1 5/8",10-16" compound Radius, Standard Thin.
Stainless Steal Frets SS6115, Spezel Lok Tuners, Clear Gloss Finish.

DUDE!

Is that a carved headstock?  With an ebony veneer?  It's not exactly my style, but I have to admit it's sweeeeeet.

Hi all  :icon_biggrin:

Just got the Neck (delivered today) for this 'EmuBird' & Warmoth excelled again. Oh man, am I happy !!  :icon_thumright: A perfect match  :icon_thumright: I love it.

Thought I'd show pic's in here, the spec's for neck are at bottom of page 1 this thread.

So who's going to say now … use the pickguard … Not that I want to !!

Anymore pic's etc I will start a thread in 'A work in progress' once I get going.
