24 fret neck on strat

Can I take a top route Strat body and put a Warmoth 24 fret neck on it (I would get a custom pickguard that omits the neck pickup)? I'm worried about the fretboard.

I'd be worried too ...

The website only talks about humbuckers, so you should call Warmoth directly.

24 fret (and 22 fret) necks have an overhang. I'm worried that the overhang would get pushed up by the pickguard.  I'm going to get Warmoth to make a pickguard that omits the neck pickup, so I'm not worried about the pickups hitting the fret board. I'm worried that the pickguard will press up underneath the fretboard and either warp it or change it's angle.

If you found yourself in the situation you describe, you can always shim the neck pocket.

If you need to know for sure, give them a call or email if you are not in the US of A.

The overhang should go over the pickguard as long is it a vintage-spec neck pocket. They are designed fit/retrofit typical Fender/Warmoth bodies. The PG slides into the 1/8" gap. It will be tight (no taking the PG off without loosening the neck). Your mileage may vary.

If it's going on a strat and you don't care where the pickup is, you could get the 24 fret board, and just move the route down so it's out of the way.  As to the overhang, it shouldn't be a problem.  You could probably find someone locally to cut a strat hole for you in the pickguard.

Yeah I will probably call, this might go on a modern offset heel Fender deluxe body I was given.

You probably need to be more concerned about whether a 24 fret neck which is likely to be a modern construction will work with that body.
